The story of our fourth foster dog Duke. This sweet Blue Heeler was such a good boy and oh so smart! He found his forever home on April 16th, 2016.
Poor Duke and his basset hound sister were given up by his family. His sister ended up going to a rescue in Illinois.
A shelter is no fun place for these pups 😦
Poor boy was so sad and shut down when we picked him up.
He was too depressed/scared/shut down to walk or move, so i had to carry him!
They gave us the wrong crate gate, so this had to do for the night!
Getting to know each other.
A little timid still, but getting used to things around here.
Sort of hanging out 🙂
First walk was VERY scary for poor Dukey. Fortunately, he got better and better each time we went out!
On his way to get neutered. Poor Duke!
Post surgery… and a little out of it!
Back home from surgery!
“What’s wrong with him, Mom?”
Work that stick!
Poor Dukey was SO skinny! His antibiotics were making him feel sick, which didn’t help!
Duke was so attached to me. Sweet boy.
Just hanging out.
Duke did so well meeting all the people! Way to go!
Even though Dukey got a few good apps, the winner ended up being a nice man in St. Paul looking for a forever friend. Our days were together were numbered!
One of our last walks together.
Such a happy boy!
Last day together 😦
“Where’s my stuff going?”
Duke’s new dad Mike! Duke also has a new fun name: Dooley (inspired by Bluegrass as his dad is a Bluegrass musician!) Have a wonderful life, Dooley! I miss you so.
